Invitations
I bought invitations tonight. They were on clearance for $15/box and I couldn't pass that up. They are pretty basic, white with an embossed edge. We will probably add a ribbon to the top. Of course, I had to do a test sheet (or 6) and get everything tweaked. I figured out the font and I think I've got the wording down. :) Seeing it on the invitation makes it seem all the more real. I can't believe we've only got 4 1/2 months to go!

Dreaming
Okay, it is official. I think about wedding planning way too much! It has infiltrated my dreams. Last night was full of wedding planning dreams, all centered around doing some really crazy stuff and the whole time I kept thinking this isn't right. I even had one of those "phew, it was only a dream" moments when I woke up this morning.
Maybe it was because mom & I made a list last night of things we still need to do that really got to me.
Maybe it was because mom & I made a list last night of things we still need to do that really got to me.
- Guest List for Ceremony (need that ASAP so we can order next item)
- CHAIRS (otherwise all of our guests will be standing)
- Food & Beverages for Reception
- Cake
- Mints
- Nuts
- Punch
- Table Cloths
- Centerpieces (possibly borrowing Becky's idea)
- Invitations (already picked out, just need to purchase)
- Flowers
We're still working on Vanessa's shower too. It's going to be Sunday so we've got to make more cream cheese mints and get all the decorations and stuff for that.
On Saturday Doug & I are having lunch with his parents to talk about the rehearsal dinner. I guess we're really getting there, aren't we? Pretty soon it'll all be done and then what will Doug & I spend all our free time doing?

A Picture Today
Here is the site of our wedding ceremony. This is Doug's Aunt & Uncle's house, isn't it beautiful??? I visited with Patty yesterday and she gave me the "ok" to post this picture. I wanted you all to be able to see it. You can sort of make out Doug & I in the lower left corner and Doug's mom in the lower right corner.I talked with Doug's aunt yesterday and she gave me some catalogs to order the bridesmaids' jewelry from and we just had a really nice visit. She's already been through the wedding planning thing twice now with her kids and she's been giving us some really great ideas.
In other news, Doug got his schedule changed at work. He now works Monday through Friday, instead of Sunday through Thursday. He's pretty excited about it, and he was one of the main reasons they made the change. I'll let him tell you the story though. :) I'm so proud of him! Oh yeah, no Wii yet. Doug's going to try Best Buy today and I'm on a call list for Wal-Mart for when they come in, so hopefully soon.
Alright, I see the clock and I really should be getting ready for work now. Happy Friday everyone!

Bridesmaid Dresses
Ordered! :)
Mom & I are planning a bridal shower for my cousin's fiancee, so that's kind of taken the pressure of me this week. Thanks, Vanessa!

Look UP!
Do you see that counter up there? The one that says we have 5 months until our Wedding Day...5 months? That means that tomorrow there will be less than 5 months. How did this happen??? Deep breaths, everyone. In about 2 weeks, we'll be at the halfway point and then we can start freaking out...or maybe we can do that now!
We've had this insanely busy weekend (You don't mind if I talk about things not wedding related, do you?). Partially because Doug only really got 1 day off. He had a long weekend for Easter last weekend and he had to make it up this weekend. Yuck! So yesterday we ran around all day long. At least the weather cooperated with us. We started our day by moving furniture to Doug's mom's storage facility. Okay, Doug did most of the moving, but I helped a little bit! Then we came home to get showered and changed because we were going to do a little shopping and then head to Patty & Steve's to look at our wedding site. Shopping was good. Doug wants to get a Wii, and we have the money in our budget right now so we figured, why not? I haven't played yet, but it looks like something I might enjoy also and that's saying alot for me and video games. I'm always up for something we can do together. Since we were on a quest for the Wii, I got to make a few purchases as well. I had a $10 card for Kohl's and I bought a new purse that was already 50% off, so it ended up costing me about $8 and I got a cute "WELCOME" sign for our door. I also got a new cell phone. It was time for our upgrades and Doug had already picked his up earlier this week. Now we both have camera phones! We always seem to be a little late catching on to the trends, but oh well. Sadly, our quest for the Wii was not so successful. We went everywhere yesterday and people pretty much laughed at us for trying to find a Wii on a Saturday afternoon/evening. Pretty much they don't know when they will get them in and told us to check with the stores every day. Knowing Doug, we'll have one by the end of this week. He's relentless. :)
Okay, back to the wedding talk. Our wedding site...oh my gosh, it is going to be so beautiful! My mom took pictures and if it is okay with Patty, I'll upload them so you can all see for yourselves. If the weather permits, we'll have the ceremony on the porch and I LOVE this porch. I cannot imagine a better place for Doug & I to be married. Although, the staircase inside the house is gorgeous as well, and if it rains and we have to move it inside, I won't be complaining. We are so fortunate that Patty & Steve offered us the use of their home for the ceremony. I think it is just going to the perfect location for us.
After we mapped out our ceremony, we went to dinner with my mom & dad. We talked more about the wedding plans and Mom had this brilliant idea to record our ceremony, and then rent a projector so it could be played during the reception. We were probably going to record it anyway, so this works just fine. I think we've already spread the word that our ceremony is going to be kind of small, so not everyone is going to be able to be there with us. As much as we hate the thought of that, we think this will be a nice solution.
And now it is Sunday, and Doug will be leaving for work in a few hours. Not much planned for the day, dinner's taken care of, I put it in the crock pot first thing this morning. I have several loads of laundry ahead of me and a bathroom to clean. Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

Realization
I was looking at the calendar and realized that Doug & I are getting married exactly 9 months from the night we got engaged. :) It was totally unintentional, I promise!
Dresses
Carmen gave the final okay on the bridesmaid dresses. We'll be ordering those soon. :)
Mom & I worked on flowers last night...it did not go well. Probably because we couldn't get everything we needed at the time and we tried to improvise. Hopefully we can get what we need soon and it'll work out a little better. Any tips would be appreciated.
We're going out to Patty & Steve's on Saturday to get a better idea of our ceremony location. I hope we don't get snowed on!
That's it for today.

Updates
We still haven't picked a song yet, but I think that Sandy has picked one for her and Doug to dance to and my dad & I have had our father/daughter song picked out for awhile now. It's going to be "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw. Thanks for all the suggestions though, I'll have to run those past Doug soon. We also need to come up with a "Do NOT Play" list. Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments. :)
We visited Bev's Cakes and Creative Cakes by Design this weekend. I liked most everything about Bev's, but not so much about Creative Cakes. We still need to visit a few more places, but we'll get there soon.
We still aren't sure on the food for the reception, but we're getting closer.
We don't have a time nailed down for the ceremony yet, we're thinking 5:30ish though. We probably won't know for sure until we print the invitations. Thanks for everyone's suggestions about the photographer. I think we will take pictures before the ceremony.
Carmen finally saw the bridesmaid dress that we picked this weekend. She loved it and has an appointment to try it on tomorrow. I hope she loves it as much in person and we can get them ordered soon.
See, we'll have plenty to do in the next 5 months and 5 days (eek!)

Cross Another Thing Off the List
Actually, two things!
The shoes were a total impulse purchase. Sarah was looking for prom shoes and I was wandering around looking for something to try on. I was being very decisive today which is so very unlike me. :)
Yes, the BM dresses were going to be pink, but we saw these silver (titanium) ones and really liked these better. I think they will suit Sarah & Carmen better too!

Cake!
So far I have one appointment to look at wedding cakes this weekend. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have several more. I hope there are samples...I love cake. YUM!

No Comments? :(
No one had anything to say about whether or not we should see each other before the ceremony, huh? Okay, I guess we'll have to make that decision on our own.
Mom & I went looking around today. We did get the flower ball thing that I want our flower girl, Sammy, to carry and I think I found the invitations I want to use.
Doug & I have been discussing what we'd like our first dance to be and we're having a hard time finding a song we both agree on. Our tastes in music couldn't be more different. He refuses to do anything country and I'm having a hard time finding anything that's not country that I think would be appropriate.
That's about all the wedding planning we did this weekend. My goal this week is to get some more info about the cake. We also need to start working on that guest list.
